Lions Park is 105.4 acres. An original 39 acres was acquired in 1974 by agreement with the Village of Cary. In 1992 an additional 66.40 acres was purchased using a Federal HCRS Grant. The southern portion of the park is rough and natural featuring several wetlands. The northern portion of the park features a peninsula walking trail and has athletic fields, play equipment and is used for a wide variety of large community events including the Summer Concert Series, Summer Celebration, Children’s Entertainment Series and Fall Family Fest. The pond is stocked with largemouth bass and grass carp.
Lions Park received renovations starting in summer 2018. In June 2019, the portion of Lions Park that was under construction reopened with many upgraded amenities including ballfield renovations, lacrosse and football field improvements, a refurbished plaza with a picnic shelter, benches, spectator bleachers, and the renovation and expansion of the restrooms and concession building.
