Classes learn all different styles of hip-hop by doing different combinations each week from different genres. Dancers use some breaking moves and tricks to enhance the dances.

Ballet technique is used to execute movements with proper technique and body placement. Our jazz classes include several different categories including but not limited to jazz/funk, contemporary jazz, commercial jazz, and more. Gardeners plant seeds in a recycled container, such as milk jugs, then set the jug outside for the winter. Bring a clean, gallon-sized milk or water jug and enjoy this hands-on workshop for starting your garden plants the easy way. All other supplies will be provided.

Magic Class

All materials are provided and each child receives a magic kit to take home. Children are grouped by age and always learn tricks that are age-appropriate. Additionally, you can sign up for this class again and again since brand new tricks are taught each session. This class is held at the Rotary Building, 431 Walkup in Crystal Lake.

Learn what it takes to make theater magic happen in a fun, yet driven environment. Students audition for a role in the play, are cast by the director, and will rehearse until show time. All students are guaranteed a speaking role in the play. Students will also play games while working on impromptu, projection, and listening skills. Students must be available for all rehearsals and the performance day. Tech week will take place April 22-25. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled as needed. Performance date is April 26.

These future veterinarians will learn how to sew stitches, remove ticks, make healthy treats, and vaccinate their dogs.

These future veterinarians will learn about animal body language and maintaining a healthy environment such as proper litterbox placement, create a cat toy, and design a vet clinic.

Your child’s artistic fire will be ignited as they learn animation techniques through anime-theme expressions and characters. The January session will focus on transforming ordinary cameras into lively cartoon characters through personification and storytelling through drawings with humorous drive-thru sequences and colorful pinata scenes. The March session will delight students as they learn how to draw dynamic figures and action filled scenes inspired by flowers and animals.

Zumba is a dance-based workout that is so fun you will forget you are torching calories while dancing to upbeat music. A Different Drummer is cardio drumming that is a unique sensory and motor-skill class that includes fun and energetic music. Drumsticks will be used to tone the body and participants can participate in a seated or standing position.

Join us as we head to Palatine Inn first for a self-pay lunch and then cutting Hall for a production of the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially) made-up words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the loser gets a juice box. Registration deadline is March 8 and refunds will not be issued after the deadline.

The challenge of adding resistance by using Zumba Toning sticks helps you focus on specific muscle groups, so you (and your muscles) stay engaged.

After “adopting” their own plush baby, students will role-play the key responsibilities of a pediatrician and learn how to perform a head-to-toe exam on a newborn. These future pediatricians will learn about diapering, diaper rash, bottling, burping, the infant Heimlich maneuver, childhood immunizations, and safe sleeping. This program will be held at the LaBahn Hain House, 149 Hilltop Drive in Lake in the Hills.

There are plenty of benefits to immersing yourself in nature through a forest therapy walk (also called forest bathing). You can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, boost immunity, and increase feelings of calm and gratitude. Walks are not strenuous and cover less than half a mile. Participants will be guided through a series of gentle invitations to slow down, be present, and explore nature through the senses. The program will finish with a “forest tea” featuring tea made from locally harvested plants. Each walk will be different, so feel free to join more than one!

Register now to sell your wares at the spring Craft Fair. Tables and chairs are provided. Vendors will be limited to one representative per company on a first come, first served basis. No food or dink for immediate consumption may be sold. Seller set up may begin at 7:30 am. Electricity will be available, but please bring your own extension cord.
