Balance Buddies Volleyball Training is for boys and girls who are beginner volleyball players. The focus is on the techniques and fundamentals of basic volleyball skills. Skills taught are passing, setting, serving, and attacking with age-appropriate differentiation and drills.

Learn what it takes to make theater magic happen in a fun, yet driven environment. Students audition for a role in the play, are cast by the director, and will rehearse until show time. All students are guaranteed a speaking role in the play. Students will also play games while working on impromptu, projection, and listening skills. Students must be available for all rehearsals and the performance day. Tech week will take place 4/21-4/24. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled as needed. Performance date is April 25. The Day-Off School programs are held at the Cary Park District Community Center from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm and are a mix of scheduled field trips and/ or on-site activities. These programs have a separate registration and payment and will be advertised through the Park District website, social media, and through e-mail.
Due to program minimum/maximums, field trip deposits/ attendance confirmations, and staffing, please be aware of withdrawal guidelines for these programs:
- Refunds will only be issued if the program is canceled by the Park District for low enrollment or weather related issues.
- Refunds will not be issued for a withdrawal from a Day-Off School program.
- In the event of a withdrawal, a credit to your Park District account will only be issued in accordance to the specific Withdrawal By dates listed in the grid below. Credits will not be issued after the Withdraw By date.

Hoping to bake her way out of her troubles, she puts her heart and soul into her unique pies, winning over anyone who tastes them. Join us as we head to Palatine Inn for a self-pay lunch and then to Cutting Hall for a production of Fiddler on the Roof. Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tightknit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof’s universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality, and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness. Players experience daily scrimmages with active instruction and tips from the coaching staff. Players are encouraged to employ skills used in football such as running pass routes, play calling, defensive positioning, fundamentals of blocking, and pass coverage. These skills and others will be put to use in a “game time” environment while the players scrimmage each week.

In this class participants will focus on relaxing muscular effort and stretch deep into the connective tissues of the body. Yin Yoga emphasizes deep relaxation and mindfulness and is designed to increase flexibility and promote joint mobility. It contrasts with more active styles of yoga, offering a calming and restorative practice that balances the body’s energy.

Explore the Shedd exhibits and even catch an hour movie about Chicago’s very own penguins. A lunch voucher will be provided for each participant to take to the extensive café to choose your own items. The fee includes admission to the Aquarium and exhibits, the lunch voucher, and motor-coach transportation. Walking is self-paced and will be moderate to extensive. Teams will be drawn randomly. There will be 4-5 people per team depending on total number registered. Fees include the lunch and entry fee for the contest. Winning team will receive a cash prize that will also be determined by the number registered. Trivia questions will be from the years 1950’s-1970’s and will fall into 3 categories: music, news headlines, and pop culture. Registration deadline is February 21 and refunds will not be issued after the deadline.

Community Center255 Briargate RoadCary, IL 60013Looking for a fun time with friends and family? Put together a team of up to 4 adults and register for Puzzle Mania, a jigsaw puzzle tournament! Teams will race against each other to finish the same 500-piece custom Cary Park District puzzle. Bring snacks and enjoy working together to complete the puzzle. Prizes will be given to the winning team.
Game Rules
- Teams are made up of 2 - 4 adults, 18 years and older.
- Only one representative from the team needs to register.
- All team members will sign in on the day of the competition.
- Tables will be selected by teams on a first come, first serve basis.
- Each team will have an identical 500-piece puzzle. Puzzles are to remain in the sealed bag in the middle of the table until the competition supervisor indicates that it is time to start.
- No aids are to be used or outside assistance from non-team members.
- Any questions about the rules or issues regarding enforcement of the rules should be brought to the attention of the competition supervisor.
- Members of the public will be permitted to observe but not allowed to disturb or help teams.
- Each team can take home their puzzle at the end of the competition.
Breaks
- Team members are permitted to take breaks throughout the competition as needed.
- Teams are welcome to bring snacks and non-alcoholic drinks to the competition.
- Team members should not distract other team members.
- In the event of an emergency, the time clock will be paused and work on the puzzles will cease until the competition supervisor declares time can resume.
Winning & Awards
- There is a two hour competition time limit. The first team to complete the puzzle (all pieces assembled correctly), will be declared the winner.
- If time runs out before a team completes their puzzle, the team with the fewest "loose" pieces will be declared the winner.
- In the event of a tie, a 5-minute sudden death round will be conducted and loose pieces will be counted again.
- The decision of the competition supervisor is final.

Opened in 2012, the Tea Room features a classic experience and introduction to the past time of afternoon tea in an elegant and charming setting. The high tea is inspired by British classics – an artful array of finger sandwiches, raisin scones, and petite pastries – a menu that represents authenticity. Gerri and her hosts fill delicate antique tea cups with freshly brewed and strained tea from antique silver teapots in Victorian attire. Following tea there will be time to walk around the shops of Long Grove. Transportation is by Park District bus. Walking is self-paced. Registration deadline is March 1 and refunds will not be issued after the deadline.

April Fools’ Day is coming - let’s get laughing. Through close observation and lab experiments, this high-energy comedy class will offer electrifying lessons on humor including impersonations, healthy gag humor, slapstick, comic strips, standup, ventriloquism, and witty situational. Whether your child is naturally funny or not, they will have the opportunity to develop and execute comedic skills, gain a higher sense of self esteem, and perhaps learn to use humor in a social setting to be friendlier. They will also begin to understand when comedy is taken too far in life. All kids leave with a humor themed souvenir. This is a co-op program with Crystal Lake Park District and Lake in the Hills Park & Recreation Department.

Develop your child’s intellect through the royal game of chess! This half-day camp is perfect for beginners as well as experienced players. Each day of camp will consist of a fun interactive teaching period, followed by guided practice time, allowing students to play against one another while coached by an experienced instructor. The camp session will conclude with a non-elimination tournament. This program is a co-op with Crystal Lake Park District and Lake in the Hills Park & Recreation Department.

Our first stop will be Banbury Fair, a community mainstay for over 35 years offering a wide selection of shopping as well as a delicious coffee bar. We will stop at other various downtown Barlett shops prior to picking up a slice-to-go at the Bartlett famous V&V Pizza. We will then head to Prestige Creative Markets & Nursery which houses 8,000 square feet of shops showcasing local small businesses. On the way home, we will stop at Oberweis Dairy for a self-pay treat. Transportation is by Park District bus. Walking is self-paced, with several stops on and off the bus. Community Center255 Briargate RoadCary, IL 60013Looking for a fun time with friends and family? Put together a team of up to 4 adults and register for Puzzle Mania, a jigsaw puzzle tournament! Teams will race against each other to finish the same 500-piece custom Cary Park District puzzle. Bring snacks and enjoy working together to complete the puzzle. Prizes will be given to the winning team.
Game Rules
- Teams are made up of 2 - 4 adults, 18 years and older.
- Only one representative from the team needs to register.
- All team members will sign in on the day of the competition.
- Tables will be selected by teams on a first come, first serve basis.
- Each team will have an identical 500-piece puzzle. Puzzles are to remain in the sealed bag in the middle of the table until the competition supervisor indicates that it is time to start.
- No aids are to be used or outside assistance from non-team members.
- Any questions about the rules or issues regarding enforcement of the rules should be brought to the attention of the competition supervisor.
- Members of the public will be permitted to observe but not allowed to disturb or help teams.
- Each team can take home their puzzle at the end of the competition.
Breaks
- Team members are permitted to take breaks throughout the competition as needed.
- Teams are welcome to bring snacks and non-alcoholic drinks to the competition.
- Team members should not distract other team members.
- In the event of an emergency, the time clock will be paused and work on the puzzles will cease until the competition supervisor declares time can resume.
Winning & Awards
- There is a two hour competition time limit. The first team to complete the puzzle (all pieces assembled correctly), will be declared the winner.
- If time runs out before a team completes their puzzle, the team with the fewest "loose" pieces will be declared the winner.
- In the event of a tie, a 5-minute sudden death round will be conducted and loose pieces will be counted again.
- The decision of the competition supervisor is final.

This 80-year-old building is designed to represent a traditional Tudor-style manor house. It boasts 10 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, and a secret passage or two. The tour includes information about the Strong family, the process of building their castle, and brief touches of depression era history. Attendees also get a glimpse into castle structure and medieval life. After the tour we will enjoy a lunch of fried chicken/chicken breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, roasted veggies, and dessert. Weather permitting, we will have time to explore the grounds. Transportation is by Park District bus. Extensive walking is involved with this trip. To enter the tower, many stairs are involved. Registration deadline is March 26 and refunds will not be issued after the deadline.

Players experience daily scrimmages with active instruction and tips from the coaching staff. Players are encouraged to employ skills used in football such as running pass routes, play calling, defensive positioning, fundamentals of blocking, and pass coverage. In this class participants will focus on relaxing muscular effort and stretch deep into the connective tissues of the body. Yin Yoga emphasizes deep relaxation and mindfulness and is designed to increase flexibility and promote joint mobility. It contrasts with more active styles of yoga, offering a calming and restorative practice that balances the body’s energy.

Our curriculum uses age appropriate activities and games specifically designed to increase balance, body awareness, motor skills, hand eye coordination, listening skills, and the ability to follow directions. The Lil’ Dribblers program includes exclusively designed equipment tailored to enhance the basketball experience for each participant. The program challenges children
to develop new cognitive, physical, and social skills. In addition, each child will experience social interaction with children and adults in a fun environment.Session 1 meets Saturday, April 12-May 17 from 12:30-1:15 pm.

The Way the Cookie Crumbles Lab - Life Coaching for Kids Lab
Who doesn’t love a good cookie to munch on after school or at the holiday party? Learn the fascinating history of cookies. Participants will become experts on this iconic treat in our cookie lab and even sample some while sharing opinions. Bonus content includes the “3 Spheres of Control”. This is a co-op program with Crystal Lake Park District and Lake in the Hills Park & Recreation Department.

Compete against other teams to finish the same 200 piece jigsaw puzzle with the fastest time declared the winner. You may register as an individual or as a team. Individuals will be paired with another participant on the day of. The team will keep the puzzle at the end of the event. Bring a new or gently used puzzle if you would like to participate in an optional puzzle swap.
This event is held at The Pieceful Puzzle, 27 Jandus Road, Unit A, Cary.

Develop your child’s intellect through the royal game of chess! Current research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas including mathematics and language arts. Chess has been proven to enhance children’s motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity. Each class will consist of a fun, interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both beginner and experienced players are welcome and will learn under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. This program is a coop with Crystal Lake Park District and Lake in the Hills Park & Recreation Department.
This class meets on Monday, April 14-May 19 at Woodscreek, 1420 Willow Tree Drive, Crystal Lake.

Community Center255 Briargate RoadCary, IL 60013The Sanfilippo Estate is a private home located in Barrington Hills, featuring the world’s finest collection of automatic music instruments. We will experience a docent led tour of the gorgeous music rooms in the Estate, while listening to the history of the family and their collections. We will end the tour in the Carousel Hall with the gorgeous and one of a kind musical collection. Once the tour is complete, we will head for a fun self-pay lunch and then to the Fisher Nut store in Elgin for a little shopping. Transportation is by Park District bus. Moderate to extensive walking with periods of standing is involved with this trip. Registration deadline is March 28 and refunds will not be issued after the deadline.

Kaper ParkParents are an integral part of helping their tots develop basic sports movement and motor skills. Motor skill activities focus on hand/eye and hand/foot coordination. The Easter Bunny is coming to the Cary Park District! Sign up to receive a special Easter basket delivery to your home. The Bunny can put together your child's individual basket, or you have the option to provide a basket to be delivered. Provided baskets must be dropped off at the Community Center between Monday, April 7 - Friday, April 11.
The Bunny will deliver on Thursday, April 17 between 4:00 - 7:00 pm.

The Day-Off School programs are held at the Cary Park District Community Center from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm and are a mix of scheduled field trips and/ or on-site activities. These programs have a separate registration and payment and will be advertised through the Park District website, social media, and through e-mail.
Due to program minimum/maximums, field trip deposits/ attendance confirmations, and staffing, please be aware of withdrawal guidelines for these programs:
- Refunds will only be issued if the program is canceled by the Park District for low enrollment or weather related issues.
- Refunds will not be issued for a withdrawal from a Day-Off School program.
- In the event of a withdrawal, a credit to your Park District account will only be issued in accordance to the specific Withdrawal By dates listed in the grid below. Credits will not be issued after the Withdraw By date.

Advanced registration is required for all participants whether riding the bus or driving yourself. The registration deadline is one week prior to the event date and refunds will not be issued after the deadline.

Explore the extensive auto collection of some of the rarest, most fascinating, and bizarre mechanical marvels in the museum’s collections. Peruse the Antique Mall for rare finds and dive into the Titanic Exhibit where you step into the world of the early 20th century with wealth and dreams of a better life collide. The museum showcases an unbelievable $6 million collection of some of the rarest Titanic era. Afterwards we will head to the iconic Rte. 12 Fratello’s for a fun self-pay lunch. Transportation is by Park District bus. Walking is self-paced and will be moderate to extensive. Registration deadline is March 28 and refunds will not be issued after the deadline.
