Hoffman Park is 265 acres and was acquired in 1999 through purchase. The park is mostly farmland, but also features a prairie pothole wetland and 40 acres of woodland, savanna and remnant prairie.
In 2010 the Park District completed the Phase 1 development of Hoffman Park. This development included an off-leash dog play area, accessible fishing pier, nature observation shelter, accessible community garden plots, demonstration worm-farm, picnic shelter, restrooms, 4,000 linear feet of trail, and wind and solar alternative energy sources. Memberships to the dog park and community garden plot rentals are available through the Park District. The pond is stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, yellow perch, northern pike, walleye, sunfish, crappie, and catfish.
In 2018 the Park District opened the Walnut Hollow Disc Golf Course a 18-hole course set on 36-acres of Hoffman Park. The course traverses some of the best landscapes including some flat and some rolling terrains. The tree hedgerows, old agriculture fields, and farmstead areas create an interesting, challenging, rewarding, and of course fun experience for anyone with any experience level. The six hole family course is short, sweet, and provides an introduction to the sport – perfect for families or those who are brand new to playing.
