Kaper Park and Lions Park Revitalization Projects
The Kaper and Lions Park revitalization projects were identified as priorities in the 2016 Comprehensive Master Plan (CMP) Update. This summer while working with Upland Design, two draft plans of each park were developed using information gathered during the CMP process. The plans provide for the improvement of aging amenities, replacement of park features, and the addition of support facilities. We feel these plans are great additions to our park system and are designed with the entire community in mind and accessibility for all.
If you were unable to attend the Open House that was held on Monday, September 18, we invite you to review the plans and provide comment. If you are interested in providing comments please send an email to cmppubliccomments@carypark.com by Tuesday, September 26.

Disc Golf Course Coming to Hoffman Park
The Cary Park District will be developing an 18-hole disc golf course at Hoffman Park. Interest for a disc golf course came from the 2016 Comprehensive Master Plan Update. The course will cover 35 – 40 acres of the south east side of Hoffman Park starting near the dog park.
In March and April, the Park District will be removing exotic underbrush and select trees. Later this spring certain field areas will be seeded with prairie and meadow grass instead of crop. This summer construction of small concrete tee pads and target inserts will begin. We anticipate a summer 2018 grand opening of the Hoffman Park Disc Golf Course after a season of grow in on the course.
Cary-Grove Park Master Plan
Updating the master plan for Cary-Grove Park was identified in the Comprehensive Master Plan (CMP) Update 2016 as an action item. Completing a master plan for a park site addresses relationships between site amenities and features while opening a dialogue to partnership and grant opportunities. At the April 27, 2017 park board meeting, the Park Board of Commissioners approved the Cary Grove Park Master Plan.
Jamesway Park Playground Replacement
Jamesway Park playground is now open for play! This playground received two new play structures suitable for children 6 months – 3 years and 2 – 12 years, benches, accessible picnic tables, and a concrete path to improve the overall site and play area accessibility.
Candlewood Park and Hillside Prairie Park Playground
The Cary Park District is pleased to announce the opening of the Candlewood Park and Hillside Prairie Park playgrounds. The playgrounds received new play equipment, benches, and two accessible picnic tables plus a concrete path to improve the overall site and play area accessibility. We hope these playgrounds will be a fun place for children and their families to gather to explore, create, play, and discover for years to come.
